COVID-19 UPDATE

Due to all of the uncertainty that we are facing in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made the very difficult decision to cancel our Summer Camp programs for both July and August 2020, this also means that we will not be running our JLT program this summer.

Our first priority is to keep all of our participants and volunteers safe, as well as continue to meet all the guidelines put into place by our government. At this time, we are still not able to meet in groups and we are not sure when this restriction will be lifted.

We look forward to serving with our JLT’s next summer.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Margaret Pfeiffer our Children’s Program Director.

What are the Qualifications to become a JLT?

  • Must be currently attending church on a regular basis

  • Letter of reference from a pastor

  • Must attend a Plan to Protect training session (Date and time TBD)

  • Must attend a camp training session (Date and time TBD)

  • Must be entering grade seven

What does a JLT do?

A JLT’s role is to offer support and help to the staff, leaders, children and parents at Freedom Kids Camp.  If something needs to be done, a trusty JLT will get it done.  No job is too big or too small for a faithful Junior Leader in Training.

What are the required training sessions for becoming a JLT?

There will be a MANDATORY training session before camp begins for all JLTs. This is necessary, because before a JLT can come to camp he/she must be familiar with camp rules and protocols.  Also, all JLTs must be aware of what is expected from them at camp.

How do I become a JLT?

In order to become a JLT you must first apply. Fill out an online JLT application form and have your Pastoral Letter of reference to Miss Margaret no later than Monday, April 20, 2020.

There are limited spaces for the JLT program. Priority will be given first to students who attend Freedom Church on a regular basis and show leadership potential. Next priority will be given to past campers who have previously demonstrated leadership potential. All others are welcome to apply.
