Freedom's Youth Summer Program is an opportunity for students in high school who are able to come and help at Summer Camp for a week over the summer.  In the Youth Summer Program, students will continue to develop their leadership skills in a camp setting. The Youth Summer Program is a great opportunity for students to gain valuable, life-long leadership skills and complete their volunteer hours for school.

COVID-19 UPDATE

Due to all of the uncertainty that we are facing in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made the very difficult decision to cancel our Summer Camp programs for both July and August 2020, this also means that we will not be running our youth volunteer program this summer.

Our first priority is to keep all of our participants and volunteers safe, as well as continue to meet all the guidelines put into place by our government. At this time, we are still not able to meet in groups and we are not sure when this restriction will be lifted.

We look forward to serving with our youth volunteers next summer.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Margaret Pfeiffer our Children’s Program Director.

WHAT ARE THE QUALIFICATIONS TO BECOME A YOUTH VOLUNTEER?

  • Letter of reference from a pastor.

  • Must attend a Plan to Protect training session (Date and time TBD)

  • Must attend a camp training session (Date and time TBD)

  • Must currently be in Grade 9 (born in 2005 or earlier)

WHAT DOES A YOUTH VOLUNTEER DO?

A Youth Volunteer's role is to offer support and help to the staff, leaders, children and parents at Freedom’s Summer Day Camp. If something needs to be done, a trusty Youth Volunteer will get it done.  No job is too big or too small for a faithful Youth Volunteer.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIRED TRAINING SESSIONS FOR BECOMING A YOUTH VOLUNTEER?

There will be a MANDATORY training session before camp begins for all Youth Volunteers. This is necessary, because we want to make sure that all of our volunteers are trained and prepared by becoming familiar with camp rules and protocols.  Also, we want all our Youth Volunteers to be aware of what is expected from them at camp.

HOW DO I BECOME A YOUTH VOLUNTEER?

In order to become a Youth Volunteer you must apply. Fill out an online application form and have your Pastoral Letter of reference to Miss Margaret no later than Monday, April 20, 2020.

There are limited spaces in the Youth Volunteer summer program. Priority will be given to students who attend Freedom Church on a regular basis and show leadership potential. Next priority will be given to previous Camp volunteers who have demonstrated leadership potential and who the staff deem suitable for such a program. All others are welcome to apply. We will accept applications from those who have not previously been involved in Camp, however they will need to complete the application process as well as have an interview with the Children’s Program Director.
