Freedom Devotional (November 5)

I'm sure this won't surprise you but when I hear something really powerful or moving I often comment to Rob, "I would have come out of my skin if I had been there!" (Click here for my latest example.) I love concerts, live theatre and artistic performances and how experiencing creativity and art with other people creates unforgettable moments.

That's the picture I get when I read Nehemiah 12. So much has happened in Jerusalem and the Jews are coming full circle to dedicate the wall. It was an incredible scene and I can't help but wish that I could have been there. I can only imagine what it would have been like to have been in one of those choirs that were commissioned to proclaim worship while walking along the top of the newly rebuilt wall all the way to the temple.

What was Nehemiah up to? Was it all just pomp and ceremony? Perhaps he just knew what was worth making a big deal about. On Sunday we're going to take some time to dig into what is capturing our hearts and learn from Nehemiah's incredible dedication service.

See you then,

P. Tracy
