Freedom Devotional (May 21)

This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday. The day we remember a very significant moment in the life of the church.

Before His ascension, Jesus tells his disciples to go into all nations to preach the Gospel - but not right away. They were to wait until they had received power. So, faithfully waiting in an upper room, these men and women experienced something few people had ever experienced.

It is impossible for us, as post-Pentecost believers, to imagine life without the Spirit. But in the Old Testament, the Spirit of God only descended on a select few, for select moments, all others, no matter how faithful, never had the Spirit reside inside them.
Today, because of Pentecost, every believer has the very fullness of the power of God living inside them, every minute of their existence. Yes, the very same power that we see exercised by the Acts church is waiting to pour out of you.

Take a few minutes preparing for this Sunday by reading about your favourite miracle in the book of Acts. Could it be true that these feats of power are still available to the church today? Could you be used in such a mighty way?

This Sunday I would like to talk about what can make it possible to live in the power of the Holy Spirit.

As you prepare for Sunday, take a few minutes to listen to this song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JI4CPfuLW0
