A Season of... Love (the second Sunday of Advent)

This Sunday's Advent theme is love. It's always appropriate to set our focus on the love of God and how we are called to express it in our lives. Just think of the Greatest Commandment. In Matthew 22:37-39, when Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment is, he said: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’"

We know that love is important and this Sunday, beautifully, we are gathering around the Communion table to remember Jesus' ultimate act of love for us... the reason that we can love others and fulfill Jesus' command. When we recognize the great love of God for us displayed on the cross, we can live in that kind of love in our families, our schools, our places of work and our neighbourhoods.

Take a moment to reflect on this week's Advent theme: love. The video below is helpful - take a few minutes to watch if you can.

I'm looking forward to journeying through the second Sunday of Advent with you!

See you then,
Pastor Tracy
