“Is this the Holy Spirit?” This is the question I get asked a lot, and the one I ask myself the most often. It doesn’t usually sound like that, though. It sounds like: How does God speak? How do I know what to do? What was that I heard in church? What does this mean in Scripture? Is this God’s leading or is it my anxiety?

While we hold to a belief in the Trinity (God is One and the three persons of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - learn more here), people often struggle to understand who the Holy Spirit is. Some of us have never been taught about or knowingly experienced the Spirit, while some of us have seen a lot and wondered if He really is in all the hype. With such diversity in our encounters with the Holy Spirit, we’re going to talk for a few weeks on Sundays about what the Bible says about Him, and how knowing and trusting Him transforms our lives.

We’re going to use Pastor Del’s extremely helpful course, Life in the Spirit, to guide us, loosely following the lessons through this series. I encourage you to head to our learning platform and get into Life in the Spirit for yourself. You can download the PDF, follow the course through the preset modules, or pick up a hard copy at our Welcome Centre in the lobby on Sunday.

This weekend, I’ll be covering the Introduction and Lesson 1: Governed by the Spirit. Go ahead and get into the material; perhaps add it to your devotional times in the coming week. I am confident that you will be encouraged and transformed as you learn what it means to live your life in the Spirit. (Also, if you’re well-versed in this topic, this is a great opportunity for a refresher so that you’re equipped to walk someone else through it!)
