Weekly Devotional (July 31)

What a summer it has been so far. We have had three great weeks of Malcolm's camp and are now on a two-week break. I can't believe we are almost in August. This summer has flown by, I am convinced that the older I get the faster time goes by.

I am up in Magnetawan at Camp Kahquah, sitting by the lake enjoying my vacation time with friends. It's so amazing to have close friends in my life that are willing to let me come and crash their family vacation - I feel very blessed.

Close friends are an important part of our lives. Outside of our family they are the ones we share our joys with, seek out for advice, or turn to for comfort. Good friends are also the ones who are ready with the chocolate cake if you have had a bad day.

It's important that we are cautious when making new friends, especially if they are going to be someone who has a place of influence in our lives. This coming Sunday I am going to speak about friendship. Instead of looking at what makes a good friend, I am going to look at what qualities we should steer clear of.

This week I want to encourage you to take a look at some of the friendships you have and see if they are healthy and strong. If you are not sure, ask God to show you if there are some areas that could be improved. Think about some of the qualities your friends have that make them good friends.Take some time and pray, especially for your close friends, asking God to continue to help these friendships to be healthy and strong. Thank Him for the friends he has brought into your life and those who might still be out there somewhere.

See you on Sunday,

Margaret
